Spring is finally in full swing! And with blue skies, warmer temperatures, and blooming flowers on the horizon, it’s time to plan for some good old fashioned outdoor fun.
For those of you with little ones who are less than a year old, spring brings the opportunity to celebrate all kinds of firsts. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the best memories - here are a few of the firsts we’re excited to share with you this spring!
First Bubble Chase
Indoor bubbles are great and all, but there’s nothing like the joy of watching your brand-new crawler or walker bask in the fun of an outside bubble shower. Pull out the beach towels or blankets and your favorite baby-safe bubbles (we love the refillable aluminum options from BubbleTree), head outside, and make sure to capture photos or video of all the giggly bubble magic!
First Family Picnic
The best part about picnics? They don’t have to be fancy to be fun! Show your baby how to pack favorite snacks into a basket or tote, then head to the park, the beach, or even just the backyard for baby’s first al fresco lunch. If things are still a little spring-shower damp in your neighborhood, these waterproof blankets are a real picnic saver.
First Feet-in-the-Waves
Baby’s first trip to the beach doesn’t have to be stressful - it’s all about being prepared! Our baby beach trip essentials are a great tent or umbrella so there’s always shade available, a soft wide-brimmed hat for everyone, plenty of snacks in a reliable cooler, and baby-safe sunscreen (applied regularly) for everyone over 6 months! On especially warm and sunny days, make sure to either keep your day at the beach short, or take breaks back in your hotel room to give everyone a chance to cool down and get in a good nap.
First Theme Park
Theme parks are a lot of fun and, well, just a LOT, but we have a few favorite tips for success! Bring your own water and snacks when allowed, pack a baby carrier in your stroller for flexibility, and take advantage of major theme parks’ parent swap option to take turns on rides with older kids without twice the wait. Make sure to take plenty of rest breaks to keep sleepy and hangry grumps to a minimum and enjoy watching your little one discover all the bright colors, lights, sounds, characters, and magic for the very first time!
First Flower Collecting
Flowers are one of spring’s simplest and most accessible joys. Take your baby out on a flower picking adventure, and let them experience all the colors, textures, and scents that spring has to offer! Just make sure to keep flowers out of teething mouths - flowers might be beautiful, but they’re not all great for your baby’s love of tasting!
First Park Day
Warm weather means time to try out slides, swings, and sandboxes! If you have more than one park nearby, this is the perfect time to start sorting out which one is a favorite for you and your little one. Do they love the rush of a slide, the soothing rhythm of a swing, or the cooling joy of a splash pad? Parks are one of our favorite ways to shake off all those stuck-inside winter months and capture lifelong memories together.
