Real-Life Inspiration: Kelsey's Buckaroo Nursery
When it comes to design, dadada Baby is inspired by a long list of things. Classic lines and furniture structures, upcoming trends, new parent concerns, seasoned parent wisdom - all of it factors into every new design we create.
But our favorite source for design inspiration, without question or competition, is YOU. The creativity, style, and skills our customers use to create beautiful nurseries is far and away the most inspiring part of the work we do. We’re constantly amazed not just by the nurseries you imagine, but by the creative ways you make them into reality and the joyful way you live in them.
We recently fell in love with one nursery in particular, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you!
Thankfully, Kelsey DeLange of @best.wiishes, the expecting mom who dreamt up this incredible space, was willing to share some of her inspiration, tips, and ideas with the dadada Baby blog.
We hope you love Kelsey’s nursery as much as we do, and find your own bit of inspiration in her story!
Thanks so much for sharing your nursery with us, Kelsey! Why don’t you go ahead and introduce yourself to our readers?
I live in Michigan with my husband Alex, our 12-year old son, and two dogs, Edie and Gatsby. I’ve been working as an illustrator and brand designer for the last ten years. I love improving the lives of others through art and helping them to tell their stories and reach their business goals through thoughtful and impactful design.
And we’ve just welcomed our second son in late September!
Ahh, congratulations!! When did you first start dreaming up ideas for your new baby's nursery?
Oh gosh, I feel like this nursery has lived in my head forever. We had a long struggle with undiagnosed infertility, and had been trying for another baby for 8 years before finding out we had a healthy pregnancy in January this year. It’s been such a blessing, and a really special time for our family. Finally getting to create this nursery for our little buckaroo was such a sweet, and often surreal, experience.
We love the sweet buckaroo vibe you’ve created! What was the most fun project you made or shopped for your nursery?
There are tons of handmade details. I think my two favorite things are the handmade felt horses that I made for his mobile and the custom artwork that I made for his walls. It was a lot of fun to dream up and craft these sweet little touches to make his room feel even more special.
Were there any difficult or overwhelming decisions you had to make?
Honestly, I feel like planning and executing the nursery was pretty effortless. It all came together better than I had imagined it.
You have our best-selling Soho Convertible Crib in your son’s nursery in the Black/Natural finish - and it looks fantastic! What do you love about the Soho Convertible crib, and why was it the best choice for your space?
I knew I wanted a bold crib, and the black Soho Crib was love at first sight!
Some of the most important qualities to me when shopping for furniture for our son’s space were safety and sustainability. dadada Baby hit all of our marks for well-constructed, quality furniture that was made from sustainable materials and free from all of the dangerous chemicals and finishes that you can unfortunately find on furniture these days. Plus your designs are jaw-droppingly beautiful!
What advice would you give to other parents who are just getting started planning their nursery?
Define your style, define your values, and just have fun bringing a special space for your little one to life!
Thanks so much for sharing your sweet nursery with us, Kelsey!
