Your Summer Nursery Style
Your little one is always growing and changing.
One moment, they’re just finally getting the hang of tummy time, and the next moment they’re officially crawling off of every play mat you put them on.
One moment, it’s sweet midnight feedings - the next, they’re dropping Goldfish to the dog from the high chair and laughing harder than you thought they could. These changes are magical, and meaningful, and constant.
Being a parent means constantly embracing change.
Maybe that’s why, whenever a new season starts, we find ourselves scrolling Pinterest for new nursery style inspiration - just, ya know, to mix things up a bit! After all, a constantly growing and changing child means a constantly adapting space.
And here at dadada Baby, we believe in nurseries that feel like they belong in your home - loved, lived in, and completely YOU. A room with design that inspires, organization that helps contain life’s everyday chaos, and furniture that celebrates your personal style.
With that in mind, here are some of the nursery trends for Summer 2024 that caught our eye. We’ve been having fun playing with them in our styled photoshoots, and we’d LOVE to see how you’ve embraced them in your real-life, joy-filled home!
Mix and Match Patterns
As a trend, pattern mixing has stood the test of time, but the last few seasons have delivered a dramatic increase in boldness, playfulness, and permission to go “all-in” on the pattern front. Essentially, the rules are out the window!
Go Big: Clashing wallpaper patterns, mismatched furniture, and colors that don’t really go - now’s your chance to push the limits of playful maximalism and see what unexpected right you can find in the “wrong” combination.
Start Small: Find a boldly patterned wallpaper, fabric, or rug that you love and use it as your color wheel. Pair it with simpler patterns that stay in the same color family! A helpful tip is to contrast the scale of the patterns. If your wallpaper has a small-scale floral pattern, it will likely look great with a bold, large-scale stripe or polka dot.
Deep Hues and Full Dips
Parents everywhere have been embracing deep, rich jewel tone hues for the nursery, and we are LOVING the unexpected richness. Deep tones are cozy, calming, and cocoon-like. To add to the snuggly vibes, try “dipping” the room in color by painting the walls, ceiling, and all trim in the same tone.
Go Big: Feeling the deep and dark vibe, and ready to go all in? Try a forest green, rich eggplant, or even black for a strong statement in the nursery.
Start Small: Try color dipping in a vibrant, but more subdued shade, like a sky blue, blush pink, or olive green.
Playful Brights
For a nursery that brings a smile to everyone’s face, nothing beats a playful bright. Bold, pop-art inspired colors energize, refresh, and add bounce to small spaces. Whether you use a bold paint on the walls, or keep permanent fixtures neutral and focus your pops of color on accessories, rugs, bedding, and lighting, this style is all about play, fearless saturation, and fun!
Go Big: Primary tones are making a comeback - try bright yellow, bold red, or saturated blue walls for an undeniable statement!
Start Small: A colorful light fixture, rug, or art piece is a simple, low-commitment way to experiment with brights in the nursery.
Tone-on-Tone Neutrals
If bold color isn’t your thing, tone on tone neutrals create a layered sense of comfort, class, and timeless style. The key to well-balanced neutral spaces is texture. Make sure you pair your natural woods with some glossy or shiny pieces, add a richly textured rug, and don’t be afraid to pile on the different shades of nut browns, warm whites, oatmeal, taupe, and chocolate.
Go Big: Play with the tone-on-tone vibe by painting the upper half of walls and ceiling in a lighter shade than the lower half.
Start Small: Natural wood furniture is often the simplest way to bring neutral, grounding warmth into your nursery space.
Curves Ahead
Babies are squishy wonders full of rolls, round cheeks, and bouncy giggles - why not embrace some of that circular energy in the nursery? We’re loving furniture pieces with unexpected curves, like the new Jolly 3-in-1 Convertible Crib, that create a playful vibe in any nursery space.
Go Big: Choose furniture pieces with rounded edges, bubble chair gliders, rounded bookshelves, and balloon inspired light fixtures!
Start Small: Add a few simple circular accents, like a round rug, a paper lantern, or circular wall shelves
