Real-Life Inspiration: How the Bliss Crib Supports Ara’s Independence

For Jacqueline (Jacq) Atwood, a creative professional and mom of two, creating a stylish yet practical space for her daughter Ara was a priority. Can you tell us a little about your family, your career, and what a typical day looks like for you?

We are a busy and fun-loving family of four. Our daughter, Ara, is 3, and our son, Levi, is 1. Both my husband and I work in the creative industry, producing commercials and photoshoots. When we're not on set, we're juggling our work-from-home life with taking care of our little ones. We wouldn't trade our lifestyle for anything!

With creativity at the heart of your work, what’s your approach to home design?

Our style leans mid-century modern with stylish accents and textures, while the kids' rooms are classic with a touch of whimsy, reflecting their beautiful childhood.

Sounds like a wonderful blend of timeless style and playfulness. Did the Bliss Crib inspire any specific style or decor choices around the room?

For Ara's room, we found the Bliss Crib was the perfect focal point, setting a neutral and timeless tone that allows us to adapt the decor as she grows. We've incorporated similar wood tones to the solid Beechwood for a cohesive look.

That adaptable, neutral approach makes so much sense, especially as toddlers start expressing themselves in ever-changing ways. How is Ara’s personality and unique style starting to shine through in her space and your home?

Ara already has a big personality and helped design her perfect room! She spends her days playing in her kitchen and taking care of her stuffies with her doctor play kit.

With all that creative energy spent during the day, how has Ara adjusted to the Bliss Crib as her sleep needs evolve?

The Bliss Crib has been perfect for her. We transitioned easily to a toddler bed with the rails, and then to a big-girl bed with no rails at all. The current floor bed set up gives her the freedom to play, read, and sleep all in the same comfortable space.

That seamless transition is exactly what makes a convertible crib so valuable. Since safety is always top of mind when moving out of the crib stage, how did Bliss’s features help make this milestone feel secure and stress-free?

Honestly, we were a bit worried at first when we were getting ready to transition her from the crib but the dadada toddler rails gave us peace of mind and made the whole process smooth and safe, all the way to the floor bed.

Hearing that Bliss helped make such an important transition smoother is precisely why we do what we do. Parenting is full of these little milestones—some expected, some surprising. What’s the biggest, most unexpected, or even funniest lesson you’ve learned while raising a growing little one?

The biggest lesson I've learned so far from being a parent is that the little things truly are the big things. It's so important to cherish every moment, as life with little ones moves incredibly fast. One of the unexpected things I've learned is that toddlers truly do have strong opinions — especially when it comes to their bedrooms! Ara helped pick out nearly everything for her room and she definitely knows what she likes.
